EXECUTIVE COACHING

A space to think, challenge and move forward.

Being a senior leader can be a lonely position.

There are decisions you can't easily discuss with your team. Conversations you need to have but keep putting off. Situations where you're too close to the problem to see it clearly.

Executive coaching gives you a confidential space to step away from the day-to-day, think things through and explore what might be possible.

No judgement. No predetermined answers. Just an honest conversation focused on you and what you want to achieve.

What brings you to coaching?

You may not have a single problem.

Perhaps you simply know that something could be better.

You might be:

     ●   considering your next move

     ●   stepping into a new role

     ●   dealing with a difficult colleague or relationship

     ●   struggling to have an important conversation

     ●   questioning a decision

     ●   finding yourself reacting rather than responding

     ●   feeling that you're capable of more

     ●   wanting to understand how others experience your leadership

     ●   preparing for a particularly demanding period

     ●   looking for someone who will challenge you

Even highly successful leaders can find themselves facing challenges they haven't encountered before.

Sometimes the challenge isn't knowing what to do.

It's having the space to understand how you're approaching it.

What happens in coaching?

There is no fixed programme that says what we have to discuss.
The starting point is whatever matters to you.
A session might involve exploring a particular situation, examining a pattern of behaviour, preparing for an important conversation or challenging an assumption you've been carrying for years.
The conversation may move somewhere unexpected.
That's often where the value lies.

Listen
Understand what's happening from your perspective.

Explore

Look beneath the immediate issue and identify what's really going on.

Challenge

Question assumptions, habits and ways of thinking that may be limiting you.

Develop
Consider different ways of approaching the situation.

Apply

Turn the conversation into something you can use in the real world.

The coaching relationship.

The quality of the relationship between coach and client matters.

You should feel able to say what you really think, rather than what you think you ought to say.

That means the coaching relationship needs to be:

Honest
A place where difficult things can be discussed openly.

Challenging
Someone who will question your thinking rather than simply validate it.

Supportive
A space where you can explore ideas without fear of judgement.

Practical
Conversations that ultimately connect to what happens outside the coaching room.

Sometimes you don't need an answer.

You need a better question.

A coach doesn't need to have the answers to your problems.

In fact, they probably shouldn't.

The value comes from helping you examine the situation from different perspectives and arrive at your own conclusions.

The aim isn't to tell you what to do.

It's to help you think more clearly about what you want to do.

Is coaching for you?

Executive coaching isn't only for leaders who are struggling.

It can be equally valuable when things are going well and you're asking:

What's next?

How could I be more effective?

What am I capable of that I'm not currently achieving?

If you're curious, open to challenge and willing to look honestly at yourself and your situation, coaching can provide the space to make meaningful change.

Start a conversation.

You don't need to arrive with a perfectly defined objective.

Tell me what's happening, what you're thinking about and what you'd like to be different.

We'll explore whether coaching could be useful to you.
